Along with being named to the All-Louisiana Team by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association, Tulane freshman cross country runner Katharine Smiley was named the Co-Freshman of the Year by the LSWA, announced the organization late Saturday night.

Tulane's cross country team closed out their season on Friday morning at the NCAA South Central Regional, with the women's squad coming in 19th place, while the men finished 20th in their respective fields.

Tulane cross country sophomore Adam Yohanan not only leads the team on course, but also in the classroom, as he was awarded Thursday with a spot on the Conference USA Cross Country All-Academic Team, announced the league offices.

Tulane's cross country program will take to the course again on Friday as they travel to Waco, Texas, for the NCAA South Central Regional cross country race at the Cottonwood Creek Golf Course, hosted by Baylor.

It was a tough day for the Tulane cross country program, as they came up short in their bid for a title at the Conference USA Championships at the Eagle Point Cross Country Course in Denton, Texas on Saturday morning.

All of the work put in this season by the Tulane cross country program will come to a head on Saturday as the Green Wave will travel to Denton, Texas, site of the 2013 Conference USA Cross Country Championship, hosted by North Texas.
